About Velavadar National Park (Blackbuck Sanctuary)
Velavadar National Park, also known as Blackbuck National Park, is a unique grassland and wetland ecosystem located in the Bhal region of Gujarat.
The park is particularly known for its blackbuck population and wide open grassland landscape. Visitors may also encounter Indian grey wolves, striped hyenas, jungle cats and a variety of other wildlife.
Velavadar is also an important habitat for the critically endangered lesser florican and serves as a major winter roosting ground for migratory harriers. The park supports a rich diversity of wildlife, including mammals, reptiles and a large number of bird species.
Safari visitors can explore the park through a private Gypsy or their permitted vehicle, depending on the selected entry option. Safari experiences are particularly attractive during the early morning and evening hours when wildlife activity and bird movements may be observed.
Wildlife sightings depend on natural animal movement, season and environmental conditions and cannot be guaranteed.
The park remains closed annually from 16 June to 15 October. Visitors should carry the required entry permit and identity documents and follow the applicable visitor and wildlife regulations.
